Frequently asked questions
Where can I get an additive decoder that tells me that the food additive 'flavour enhancer 621' is MSG etc?
You can go to the Food Safety Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ) website to get a 16 page booklet click here to go to it directly
I have tried any number of diets, why is this one any more likely to work?
Firstly, this programme is not a diet - it is a lifestyle. Secondly the reason it works so well for most people is that by cutting out empty foods (such as refined flour and sugar) we leave room for real foods that are not only rich in minerals, vitamins and enzymes but are also satisfying - they literally reduce hunger pangs.
Will I have to do a lot of exercise to free myself of excessive body fat?
No, I recommend only moderate exercise but an active lifestyle. This means walk when you can, and find hobbies and interests that get you out with like-minded people.
I find I am low in energy and often will slump during the day. Will this programme help me here?
Yes definitely. An over-reliance on processed carbohydrates can cause drowsiness. Reducing the intake and changing the types of carbohydrates you eat can make all the difference. I had a client who drove a truck. He was finding his six slices of bread for lunch were making him drowsy and causing him to snack more often to get him through the day. By changing to this programme the problem disappeared - within 24 hours.
I just want to maintain my weight; will I still get benefit from the programme?
Yes definitely. You will still have more energy, possibly reduce your level of medication, regain a sense of well being and have the opportunity of passing on the knowledge to your family and friends.
Is this philosophy similar to Dr Atkins - high in protein / low in carbohydrates?
Some of the things we do are similar because they work. However this programme really focuses on foods that are rich in nutrients, rather than low-carbohydrate only. It is obvious by current obesity levels that the low-fat diet regime is not working. By adding back some of the good fats and reducing processed carbohydrates we get back to a natural diet more suited to our bodies.
I am on medication. Will it work for me?
Anyone who is on medication needs to make changes with their doctor's approval. It may require a little lateral thinking from your doctor to allow you to trial this programme - talk it through with him or her. The programme has successfully reduced many of our client's over-reliance on drugs.
How quickly will I lose weight, and do I have to buy special foods?
On average people have got rid of about 8 kgs and up to 12 kilos in 12 weeks. The best part of this though is that living this way is easy. No special foods are required and with sensible shopping your food bill should not be any higher.
A side benefit is that your doctor's visits, prescriptions and time off work from illness will reduce over time - you'll actually save money in the long run!
People are living longer today than ever before. What is so wrong with our modern diet?
People aren't actually living any longer. The reason earlier generations had lower life expectancy was the extremely high rate of infant mortality.
Once people in the 1940s reached 45 years old they stood a much greater chance of reaching 90 than we do today.
Everywhere I look I see overweight, unhealthy people whose lives are over-medicated on drugs like Prozac, Xenical and the Statin (Cholesterol) drugs. It is my aim to help them reduce their reliance on these drugs and live a full and active life well into their 80s.
Is bread really bad for me?
Yes, consider this. Grain is used to fatten cattle for slaughter because it is so effective in putting on weight. Secondly seeds, grains and nuts need to be prepared in a special way to remove enzyme inhibitors that slow down digestion and remove minerals from our system. Modern bread manufacture uses quick rise additives that don't allow this to happen any more.
Is this compatible with my vegetarian principles?
Being a vegetarian is harder, but it can be done as long as you eat eggs and the good animal fats found in butter and whole milk. I know that to live to my full potential and to help my children and grandchildren to reach their fullest potential we need to eat foods rich in iron and vitamins A, D, E and K, the fat soluble vitamins, amongst others.
For the correct development of our bones, teeth, brains and nervous system it is essential that we get these.
We also gain energy, happiness, intelligence and a zest for living from this lifestyle.
Is it true that the concerns over high cholesterol in the population are blown out of all proportion?
Yes. ....................You need to come along to a programme to find out more, it is too big a question to answer here.
If that is the case why doesn't my doctor tell me that?
I asked Sally Fallon, the author of 'Nourishing Traditions', personally for her answer to this question. She gave me her reply based on her experience in America. She says, "Because your doctor doesn't know. His or her entire training has been to indoctrinate them that cholesterol is bad."
